On the thirtieth of August, in the year 2000, I was able to accomplish something in golf that Tiger Woods won’t be able to accomplish for many years.

My golf round started very inauspiciously as I took a double bogey on the first hole at Three Rivers Golf Course. On my better days I score at a single bogey rate, which means one shot over par on each hole. Sometimes this means that I’ll have a few double bogeys that are balanced by a few pars.

This particular day, as I said, started with a double bogey. I then managed to collect eight pars. This meant that I had a score of eighty three, which happens to be my age. I had scored eighty three a few times in my life. That was before I had attained the Methuselah-like ancient age of eighty three.

As I said, it will be many years before Tiger Woods will be able to shoot his age. I think he’s about twenty four years old and I don’t think he can shoot better than about a sixty three. Thus, I figure it will be at least thirty nine years before he will be able to put together a round that will equal his age.
