A little over a month ago I had a call from a Qwest wireless phone salesman. He asked me if I had a cell phone. I said, “Yes, I have a US Cellular phone”. He asked me what I was paying. I said, “I’m paying $39.95 a month”. He told me he could save me five dollars a month. Since Qwest was my home phone company anyway it seemed to make sense so I agreed to the service.

When the phone arrived I didn’t like it, as it was more complicated than the one from US Cellular. I called Qwest and a young man said no problem, we’ll send you a different phone.

When the replacement came, it was exactly like the original. Also there were no instructions as to where to send the original. I gave up and started using the phone.

When my bill came I could see why there were no instructions on the return. They had simply charged me for a separate independent phone. And how they charged me.

When I had agreed to the US Cellular phone deal there was no setup fee. Nor was there a termination fee at the end.

Qwest had approximately $130.00 dollar fee for merely joining their service so I was being charged $260.00 for the two phones, the one I had unfortunately ordered but also for the one I had not.

On receiving my bill I was so furious I called Qwest. When I finally got hold of the department that handles terminations I was connected to the nastiest woman I have ever spoken to in my life. She had no interest whatsoever of why I wanted to terminate. She practically yelled at me that it was going to cost me $200.00 per line. That would add $400.00 to my bill.

Along with my bill there came a long sheet with the supposed agreement. In it, it said that one has fifteen days from the inception of service in order to terminate at no charges. Of course in fifteen days one has no way of knowing he has been stolen from.

I know have received my final bill for Qwest Wireless Phone. It will have cost me almost $700.00 for a little over a half phone service.

How can a company stay in business when its business is build on such blatant dishonesty?
